Proven Strategies for Creating Community Around Your Personal Brand with Marketing Happy Hour

Creators everyone in the last 6-12 months have been feeling the low-engagement slump — not just on Instagram either. We can’t always blame it on the algorithm though.

Just like any brand or business building a dedicated, loyal community takes time, energy, money, effort — so much — but it’s what really makes our personal brands valuable and strong.

The secret to building community around your brand is to show people that they’re valued, but how can we as creators who are building personal brands?

📌 Pinterest has officially ended it’s Creator Rewards program

  • “The Creator Rewards program will end on November 30, 2022. To all the creators who participated, thank you for your partnership. We’re committed to exploring more ways to help you find success on Pinterest and we’re looking forward to finding more opportunities to work together in 2023,” Pinterest said in a note on its creator rewards help page.

  • The tea on TikTok is that many people were stealing content and repurposing it as Pins and essentially being compensated for other people’s work. Understandable 🤷‍♀️

🎥 Instagram is testing a new feature to create a Reel from a carousel post

  • When you go to the menu on a carousel post, you’d see an option that says “Create Reel for this Post”

  • Then, you’ll be able to sync the clips to an audio track of your choosing.

  • This is pretty similar to what TikTok has recently released.

✨ Instagram continues to work on the “Glimpse Stories” feature

  • For those who don’t yet know, Instagram’s “Glimpse” feature is essentially their version of BeReal. You get a notification and share a photo/video using the front and back camera to show what you’re up to. Typically, content must be shared within just a couple of mins from getting the notification.

  • After hearing back this, my biggest question was “where is this feature going to live?” and after seeing mobile developer, Alessandro Paluzzi’s, tweet, it seems that it will live right next to your photo in the Stories queue at the top of your IG home page.

📣 Instagram is working on the “Roll Call” feature

  • Is your head spinning yet? 😅

  • It’s a “new way to see what everyone is up to in a group chat”

  • “You have 5 minutes to add a photo or video on time. Roll calls and any responses expire after 24 hours. Person starting a roll call can unsend it at any time. Everyone who adds their photo and video can see yours.”
