The Social Scoop ⤵️

🎃 Instagram was down on Halloween and the world freaked out

  • If you worked in social media on October 31st, the day was probably pretty stressful for you. Around 10am ET, thousands of people realized that a) they lost thousands of followers or b) their account was suspended

  • Typically, there are similar glitches to this when Instagram does clean outs of spam accounts, bots, etc. but there hasn’t been a bug this massive in years.

  • Over 19k left comments on Instagram’s Twitter post saying that they were away that people were having issues accessing their account, and they were working on it. Most of those people were saying that they were locked out of their accounts. Most got them back in a few hours.

  • Unfortunately, some people’s accounts were not recovered, and many people were considering this their last straw with the app — especially after Adam Mosseri just said “our apologies…” in a Tweet with no other explanation or plan to resolve.

🎁 Meta has officially announced the Gifts features on Instagram

  • As a creator, you can earn money when you receive gifts on Reels

  • Once you enable this feature, people will be able to send you gifts on all of your Reels. This is a way for your audience to show appreciation.

  • Will anyone actually be sending gifts?

  • They also announced the ability to create and sell NFTS on the app

🎶 Instagram is testing the ability to add music to posts

  • When you’re in the area where you’d get your post ready to go live, you’ll see “add music” where you can choose from songs on Instagram

  • The music will play when someone views your post and you’ll see the title/artist of the track at the top of the post right under the location tag.

🎥 Most accounts can now add Reel to profile grid

  • If you’ve ever accidentally removed your Reel from you profile grid, you’ll now able to hit the … of the post and “add to profile grid”.
