How to Make Social Media Fun Again as a Creator in 2024
When you turn your hobby into your job, it is so easy for the fun to get sucked out of it. All of a sudden you feel pressure to create, you’re comparing yourself to other creators and the successes they’re having, and you’re expected to to show up on social media every single day.
You get to the point where you just want to log off, but now that you’re relying on social media to pay the bills, that’s not an option.
So, it’s time we make social media fun again. Even if it is your full-time job.

👯♀️ Instagram created a new “Add to a Friend’s Story” feature
How it works:
Create a story for a friend.
They decide to share or not.
If approved, it's theirs.
Public accounts can view it without likes or replies.
Your name appears when added.
🎙 YouTube is now allowing podcasters to upload to YouTube via RSS
Uploading podcasts to YouTube and YouTube Music is currently a manual process and not optimized for podcasts
Google is now adding support for RSS feeds, making it easier for podcasters to upload older episodes to YouTube and YouTube Music
🚫 Instagram creates new safety features for teen users
It is expanding content restrictions, specifically around self-harm material, and will redirect users to helplines.
All teen users will be opted into the most restrictive content settings.
They are sending out notifications to all teen users to encourage them to update their settings to increase privacy.
📅 Threads is working on “Today’s Topics”
They are based on what people are currently engaging with
💬 Instagram is working on the ability to auto-translate captions in Reels
You’ll be able to have reels show auto-generated captions, but it can be changed on each Reel.
🎶 TikTok will now let you import music from platforms like Spotify and Apple Music
There will be a section that allows you to import your music and select the source.
🔎 TikTok has removed the ability to search for specific hashtags in the Creative Center tools
This will limit your ability to get insight into the popularity of certain tags
🔄 Instagram is experimenting with letting you convert a story for close friends into a regular story
You’ll have the option to edit your close friends list or post it to your story for all of your followers to see.
